Keiko-gi/Hakama
Do-gi is the clothing that is worn while practicing Kendo. The Do-gi consists of two piece one of which is a heavy cotton jacket
(keiko-gi) and the other is a pleated, skirt-like trousers (hakama). The most common color of these pieces are a deep indigo blue but this isn’t a specific requirement. These come in a variety of qualities and can cost anywhere from $120 – $275 for the the Keiko-gi and the hakama.
Since the legs of the hakama are full cut they allow excellent freeom in your movement and footwork. The hakama is made with 7 pleats in the front while to are in the back. These 7 please are traditionally there to represent the 7 virtues of the Kend martial arts.
7 Virtues of Kendo
Yuki – courage, valor, bravery
Jin – humanity, charity, benevolence
Gi – justice, righteousness, integrity
Rei – etiquette, courtesy, civility
Makoto – sincerity, honesty, reality.
Chugi – loyalty, fidelity, devotion
Meiyo – honor, dignity, prestige

Nice post, that was a very informative article. Thanks for discussing it and and posting it where a lot of people can read. Otherwise, the sport will never be known and understood if it is kept in the gym only.
