Vietnamese Martials Arts & Cobra Blood Wine

While Vietnamese martial arts may not be to most well known in the world they have certainly be honed for use against overwhelming force of invading enemies with better weapons and massive forces and resources. Among it’s invasions Vietnam has been attacked by it’s giant neighbor China as well as being ruled for a time by France and of course there was the infamous Vietnam war involving the US. Some controlling forces like the French tried to outlaw practicing or training in martial arts in order to protect themselves from uprisings.

This led to training continuing in secret. The Vietnamese borrowed techniques from their neighbors and combined them to form of one of the first Mixed Martial Arts. The breakdown in factional fighting and guerrilla warfare lead by various warlords to various regions developing their own styles of Viet Vo Dao or Vo Thuat. The most important principals behind the development of these Vietnamese martial arts were:

Tae Kwon Do – Winning Forms Competitions

Tae Kwon Do is probably one of the most well known and widely practiced

martial arts throughout the world, which is actually surprising considering it originates from the tiny country of Korea. Tae Kwon Do is best known for it’s spectacular kicks, board breaking feats and complex and impressive form patterns. These forms are not only great for getting in shape but are also used in inspiring demonstrations and competitions. Tae Kwon Do form competitions are held on regional, national and international levels. Pretty much anyone can learn Tae Kwon Do forms with the right level of dedication and good instruction. However truly mastering these forms and impressing the judges enough to stand out and win a trophy is an art. Check out the following tips for making sure you come out a winner at the next event! These can basically be broken down into 3 categories:

1. Technique
Of course judging is supposed to be based on technique and execution of your Tae Kwon Do form. But this is not the only factor that can sway the judge’s mind. Still learn your form inside and out. Practice it backwards, forwards and in every direction possible as well as in different locations so that you will be totally comfortable at the competition in new surroundings. Make sure you get your instructors individual attention and guidance of performing each technique to perfection, especially the stances.
