The Ultimate Fighter Finale is all set for this Saturday, December 4th in Las Vegas, Nevada. As seen on this past Wednesday’s episode of the Ultimate Fighter, teammates Jonathan Brookins and Michael Johnson won their semifinal bouts and now will battle for the title of season 12 champion.
Brookins has tasted time under the big lights before. In 2008 he faced off against pound for pound contender Jose Aldo. Brookins was able to battle Aldo sternly for two rounds before falling due to TKO. In 2009 he also fought in Bellator. Johnson, on the other hand, has fought for mostly local circuits in the Midwest. Coming into this fight, Brookins sports an 11-3 record while Johnson’s record is 8-4.
Nam Phan, who was defeated by Johnson in the semifinals, will also make an appearance during this weekend’s event. He will cut down to 145 and face off against featherweight slugger, Leonard Garcia. This will be the first time that a featherweight matchup will be featured on a UFC card. Phan walks into the event with a 16-7 record while Garcia is 14-6-1 including a 4-3-1 run in the WEC.
Other TUF 12 alumni will be in competition during the finale. Kyle Watson will get a chance to redeem himself after losing to Johnson when he faces off against Team Koscheck’s Sako Chivitchyan. Along with this battle, Cody McKenzie will fight Aaron Wilkinson.
The Ultimate Fighter Finale is headlined by a lightweight matchup between Stephan Bonner and Igor Pokrajac. Ranked middleweight, Demian Maia will face off against Kendall Groove and Johny Hendricks battles Rick Story.
This event is available on Spike for free and begins at 9pm Eastern standard time.
