The Bellator Fighting Championships season 4 lightweight tournament is now official. Information released by the organization states that the competition will begin on March 12th and the opening round draws were revealed.
MMA Junkie.com and Sherdog.com were the first to announce the matchups for the opening round of fights. In first round matchups, Toby Imada, who has finished second in two previous Bellator tournaments, will face former Olympian Ferrid Kheder. Former Mizzou college wrestler Michael Chandler will fight the 10-1 Marcin Held. The other four combatants in the lightweight tournament will also fight during the March 12th event; however their pairings have not been announced. The additional competitors include: Rob McCullough, Carey Vainer, Lloyd Woodard, and Patricky Freire.
The location and venue for the Bellator lightweight tournament has yet to be announced. Winners of the tournament will receive $100,000 and a guaranteed shot at the current champion, Eddie Alvarez.
