Biggest Women’s MMA Match in the Last 3 Years

On March 3, 2012, one of the biggest women’s Mixed Martial Arts match ups will take place when Strikeforce Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate is set to defend her title against Olympic Bronze Medalist in Judo and rising MMA star Ronda Rousey. This fight is going to be the biggest women’s MMA battle since Gina Carano took on Cris “Cyborg” Santos several years ago. All of the MMA sources are building up this fight and Mixed Martial Arts fans alike are counting down the days until these two feisty females step into the cage.

Get On The List!

An early prediction from several sources is that Ronda Rousey will continue her winning ways and submit Miesha Tate in the same fashion she has done to the other four women she faced in her pro fights. Rousey is going to rely heavily upon her judo skills to beat Tate and will look to clinch early in the fight in order to get a throw and look for submission.

Miesha Tate will be the toughest opponent Ronda has faced to date. Tate is an accomplished wrestler who will look to neutralize Rousey’s judo skills. She also has better striking skills that Rousey which will be another advantage for Tate. Rousey has yet to face an opponent who is a solid striker and comes in with a game plan.

There is a lot of hype for this fight because many fans and fight analysts don’t feel that Rousey deserves this title shot. She has only fought 4 times as a professional and the competition she has faced hasn’t been the same as what Miesha Tate has seen. Another reason people don’t feel Rousey deserves the fight is because Strikeforce previously promised the next Bantamweight title shot to top contender Sarah Kaufmann. The strongest proponent for that fight has been Ronda Rousey herself, who pretty much talked her way into the match. She argued the point that a fight between her and Tate would make the most sense because both women are much more attractive and would bring in more money by way of television and ticket sales.

The next few weeks leading up to the fight will be quite interesting and the actual fight will be quite exciting. Both female fighters are very skilled and have something to prove to cement their legacy in women’s MMA. If Ronda Rousey wins it will prove that she is the real deal and make her the new face of women’s MMA. Should Tate prevail it just shows that Ronda needs to keep working on her skills and wait her turn for another title shot.

Well I guess Rousey is the real deal then. Isn’t if just great that she finished off Tate with an armbar?
