What is Martial Arts?

A growing number of people are beginning to think you walk into a cage and get bloody beating people up when you tell them you study martial arts.   However, the UFC hasn’t yet overpowered these traditional views on what martial arts is!

Should I Let My Child Learn Taekwondo?

In our last post we talked about how to find the perfect Taekwondo school, however what if you aren’t even to that point yet?  What if you are still deciding if “little Tommy” or “little Sara” should learn Taekwondo or not.  There are two issues that most parents worry about and the first one is that their child will get hurt while sparring.  However, in most reputable schools your child will not spar until he or she has the skills to protect themselves in a sparring session. Secondly, parent worry about their child becoming a bully and using their new found Taekwondo fighting skills in the school yard beating up the less fortunate kids.  However, in Taekwondo fighting is taught as the last resort and should only be used in self defense.

Tips On Finding The Perfect Taekwondo School For Your Child

Taekwondo is one of the most popular martial arts in the entire world. One of the strongest factors in its growth is its emergence as very popular Olympic sport.  Every four years there is a spike in the members of Taekwondo students around the world. Another important factor in it’s growth is that there are numerous Taekwondo schools within any given community.

Former UFC Champion Frank Shamrock Inspires Professional Athlete

When John Quinlan, Bodybuilder, Wrestler, and Sports Model, decided to train for the NPC Jay Cutler Classic, where he will compete in the Men’s Physique Class on May 6, he wanted to get a tattoo that represented his Irish heritage. Already sporting a mix of thirteen Oriental and Irish tribal themed tattoos, Quinlan wanted to make a bold statement with his 14th and final tattoo. He sought out something that would be different, something special, to showcase to the world while he conducted his bodybuilding routine on stage at John Hancock Hall in Boston, MA. Quinlan choose a shamrock that had a tribal look to go on his right hand.
