Should Martial Arts Be Against The Law?

Enjoy this post? Please share the love...

I have been putting off writing this post for a few days now because I am back and forth on this issue.  I will go ahead and throw it out there and you guys let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Get On The List!

Here at the MMA Zone it is no secret that we sell martial art weapons and it has gotten continuously harder over the years to ship these products to customer throughout the U.S. Currently, we do not ship any weapons to several states including; New York, California, Outside the U.S., etc..  With the recent horrible act of ‘alleged’ gunman James Holmes in Aurora, Colorado killing spree at a Century 16 movie theater killing 12 and injuring 50 people.  I am sure it this act will make a few more states to tighten up their weapon laws making it even tougher.

In some places it is easier to get a pistol then a pair of nunchaku. The question is should it?

Gun vs. Nunchaku vs. Shuriken

We all know that the Second Amendment covers guns but does it also protect our rights to purchase and own martial art weapons like; swords, nunchakus, shuriken (throwing stars)?  Are these martial art weapons covered by the “right of the people to keep and bear arms?”  It is my guess that most people would rather see an attacker coming at them with a nunchaku, staff, or sai then a Glock or shotgun. What do you think?

Unfortunately, when a customer from one of these states asks us why they cannot purchase one of these weapons we have to tell them we are unable to. When we talk to them they inform us they are trying to buy them for training purposes only and not to build up an arsenal of martial art weapons, but we have to tell them our hands are tied and can’t. It is crazy that a person can drive a mile outside the New York or California border and purchase these type of weapons. Do you realize how many resources are allocated and wasted on taking a pair of nunchaku’s always from a martial artist that could more appropriately used on other more severe crime.

Let’s Take Martial Art Weapons Away, Then We Will Take Their Guns

One important thing to note is that I am not anti-gun at all.  I think we should be able to purchase and own guns, but I think the politicians think it is an easier target to take away martial art weapons then our guns.

What are your thoughts, please comment below.
