UFC 159: Jones Vs. Sonnen – Odds and Outlook

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will return to pay-per-view tomorrow night for UFC 159. The card is headlined by the UFC light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and the challenger, Chael Sonnen. Also on the card are fights between Michael Bisping and Alan Belcher, Phil Davis and Vinny Magalhaes, and Cheick Kongo and Roy Nelson.

On Saturday, April 13, 2013, The Ultimate Fighter 17 will come to a close at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev. The event will feature the main event between Urijah Faber and Scott Jorgensen, as well as the UFC debuts of Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano, and a heavyweight showdown between Gabriel Gonzaga and Travis Browne.

In the UFC and MMA, professional fighters earn income from the promotion they fight for, which is usually called their show money, win bonus, and other post-fight bonuses offered by the promotion. UFC Fighters also make considerable money from sponsorships with only needing to place that company’s logo on their fight gear or walkout poster and from pay-per-view bonuses. The latter figures aren’t readily available to the media, but the salaries that these UFC fighters make with each fight is.

Gustafsson Out, Latifi Steps in to UFC on Fuel 9 Fight with Mousasi

With their hands tied by the Swedish MMA Federation, the Ultimate Fighting Championship was forced to remove Swedish fighter Alexander Gustafsson from the UFC on Fuel 9 main event. Gustafsson, a rising contender in the UFC light heavyweight division with a 15-1 record, including 7-1 inside the Octagon, was set to take on former Strikeforce champion, Gegard Mousasi. Instead, the main event slot will be filled by Ilir “The Sledgehammer” Latifi after Gustafsson suffered a cut during the Easter weekend that will not allow him to be sanctioned to fight.
