The Bellator Fighting Championships season 4 lightweight tournament is now official. Information released by the organization states that the competition will begin on March 12th and the opening round draws were revealed.

Bellator Tournament Adds One

Bellator Fighting Championship has added another undefeated fighter to the season four lightweight tournament. The organization officially announced that Lloyd “Cupcake” Woodard will be taking part in the challenge during the fourth season which is set to start in March.

Bellator Featherweight Draw Complete

The season four featherweight tournament is continuing to take shape for Bellator Fighting Championships. Daily they are announcing new competitors who will fight it out for a shot at the title during the season which is set to begin in March. That field was completed on Monday as the final participant for the eight-man tournament was announced.

Bellator Annouces Another Season 4 Competitor

Bellator’s season 4 welterweight tournament is continuing to take shape. On Wednesday another contestant was announced and this fighter knows what it is like to be on top. Former champion, Lyman Good, will take part in the tournament with the hopes to get another shot at the only man to defeat him, Ben Askern.

The Expansion of Mixed Martial Arts

When it comes to the mainstream sports world, mixed martial arts is still in its infant stage of growth. It’s easy to look back a few years ago to see that major sports outlets such as ESPN did not cover the events or big names such as Brock Lesnar or Chuck Liddell. Today, major cable companies carry not only events from the UFC, but Strikeforce, Bellator, and even smaller promotions. As we approach the end of 2010 one can only wonder what’s to come for MMA and its fans. As the sport continues to evolve, here are a few ideas as to what lies next for the fledging competition.
