From a small town but I want to learn MMA What do I do

Rating: +4

Positive Negative

I'm from a small town (under 400) and their isn't anywhere to train in Mixed Martial Arts. My school doesn't even have wrestling (which would be a big help). My question is this how should I start training or should I just not even start?

Answer:
Until you go off to college you can begin training on your own by buying DVDs that target MMA, e.g. Georges St. Pierre’s Rush Fit, the Gracie’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instructional DVDs and several others that would definitely give you the basics. Also, work on your cardio and endurance, because when you do find a school once you head off to college you will be doing lots of conditioning drills. Include in your training running, jump rope and burpees, which is a staple in MMA training. If you don’t know what burpees are you can check out YouTube to see how to perform this move. Weight training is also important. You’ll need to build strength and power for your strikes and kicks. It is relatively cheap to buy dumbbells and a barbell set and weight bench. Look on-line to find a beginner’s weight training program, if you need instruction.
