In this Dim Mak series we have talked about, “Dim Mak & Today’s MMA Fighter” & “Hidden Past of Dim Mak & Pressure Points“. Today we get down to the point, the pressure point that is (pun intended).
The human body is broken down into several parts and hundreds of vital points are located through out, however in order to do the most damage to your opponent with the use of Dim Mak one needs to target the main pressure points and attack. Before we dive into those vital targets lets look at how the human body is divided and discuss some of the sub important pressure points that will do harm, but not devastating damage. Your body is broken up into two categories the Yin (negative) and the Yang (positive).
[wps_custom_form id="0"]
The Yin section of the human body is comprised of the organs and circulatory system where as the Yang is made up of the bowl and digestive system. Each part is given an element and works in relation to another part of the human body either for healing or for control. These systems are further broken down into points all over the human body and when affected will disrupt the life flow and damage the part that they control. Some of the sub important points run along the arms and legs of our bodies and can cause pain as well as disrupt vital functions when interacted with.

Like we mentioned in our popular article, “Pressure Point – 7 Most Lethal Pressure Points” Dim Mak is one of the most popular and mysterious martial art disciplines out there. A lot of people have hear about “Pressure Points” but do not relate it to Dim Mak, or they have never heard of Dim Mak before.
Dim Mak or more commonly referred to as the “Death Touch” by Americans isn’t widely practiced in the Western world as it has been stereotyped as a hoax and leaves a bad taste in some people’s mouths just to even speak of it. There are videos and articles all over the Internet that claim or show people using the Death Touch to do harm to opponents and because this media is so over the top in its showing a lot of people pass up Dim Mak as nonsense.
The truth of the matter is that Dim Mak is practiced by almost every martial artist whether they know it or not. Traditional schools, MMA gyms, and sport oriented classes don’t go out and promote, “Come train at our school to learn Dim Mak,” yet fighters and martial artists alike all study the ancient art only in a new way. The Dim Mak or pressure point fighting is comprised of points all over the body that have been proven by both Eastern and Western medicine to have an effect on the body when hit or poked with a needle (thus the use of Acupuncture which is widely accepted all over the world) and through the course of training students are taught to target these areas even though they are not doing so to disrupt Ki.

Like we mentioned in our last article about Dim Mak, “Introduction to the Art of Dim Mak” the history of Dim Mak is shrouded in tale and tradition. What is amazing is that it wasn’t like todya’s martial arts where anyone who pays for classes or sessions gets to learn a martial arts like; Kung Fu, Taekwondo, or Karate. Masters of this veiled style would only pass on knowledge and technique to honorable devoted students, had they found no trusted student his knowledge went un-passed.
Similar to all Martial Arts of its time, the teachings of Dim Mak were used for defense of ones livelihood and kept secret from neighboring people, and enemies. While it is undocumented many Master practitioners of the Martial Arts believe that Chang San-Feng is the creator of Dim Mak, as well as the creator of Tai Chi Chuan(which literally translates to Grand Ultimate Boxing).

There is no more controversial subject in Martial Arts than the two words Dim Mak, better known in the Western World as pressure points. Practitioners of this controversial Martial Art attest the capabilities of their methods, which concentrate on attacking chi (life force energy) meridians which make the human body vulnerable to knockout, death, or even (controversially) delayed death.
These meridians also happen to be the same points used in acupuncture therapy, also created centuries ago in ancient China. Due to a lack of documented cases of injury in combat, opposing critics argue that Dim Mak points are a hoax and are ineffective.

Like we explained in the post, “4 Martial Arts Moves That Kill” a pressure point or the “Death Touch” is an area on the human body that may produce significant pain or other effects when manipulated in a specific manner. Expert practitioners in the art of pressure points and Dim Mak state that there are hundreds of different pressure points but only a few of them actually work in a self defense or fighting situation.

Every martial art has it´s own unique kicks. They range from the rudimentary kicks of some styles of karate the the many acrobatic kicks of TaeKwonDo. However the real question is are martial arts kicks effective for use on the street and if they are, which ones are the best to use?
Certainly there are many martial arts kicks that make no sense to use in a street fight. Butterfly kicks, spinning heel kicks, flying kicks and even axe kicks may look great in class, however they telegraph your movements too much and leave you open to getting your leg caught and getting thrown on your head.

That is then answer to being asked when you should give up or stop fighting back – ´5 minutes after you are already dead´!
When you are fighting for your life in a real life situation you cannot stop or give up. It may not just be yourself that you are defending, it could easily be
friends or family that you love. Every extra split second that you can keep fighting could save the life of those you love the most.
While most martial artist will agree that this sounds cool, few actually train for this. This takes both physical and mental training. OK, fighting 5 minutes after you are actually dead may be scientifically impossible but it is the mindset and determination that is key. It is certainly possible to continue fighting after you ought to be dead. There are numerous cases of people living through being shot. Of course everyone knows rapper 50 Cent survived being shot 9 times, however there are many others who have survived being shot with shot guns and even a woman in Brazil who survived being shot 6 times in the head at point blank range. So the point is that no matter how much damage you take, even if you are shot you must keep going, do not panic and give up.

Not only have taser guns become one of the US police forces favorite and most commonly used
(but highly controversial) weapons in their arsenal but are also used by criminals in the street. Taser guns have been touted as a non-lethal tool used to
easily subdue an attacker, but have received much negative press after several deaths involving police use of tasers on the public. Tasers provide easy take downs by overriding the central nervous system sending the victim to the floor in record speed.
Civilians and the public can also purchase these police style taser guns from most gun stores as well as many online retailers. And having gone from being priced at almost $1,000 several years ago can now be found for as little as $99. However law enforcement has put some restrictions into effect that are meant to reduce crimes using them and give police officers the advantage. For example the M26c pistol style taser available to the public only has a range of 15 feet, while the police issue version can hit a target with laser sight 21 feet away.
Additionally ‘AFIDs’ have been put into the cartridges to help police track evidence in cases where they are used illegally. These AFIDs are many tiny pieces of paper that are released when the taser is fired. They eject and cover the scene with these tiny pieces of paper that are coded and can be traced back to the purchaser.

Ground fighting styles may have taken over as the leading styles for most MMA battles these days. Besides the fact that this is extremely disappointing for those who love real stand up, knock ‘em out action, these styles are surely pretty useless when it comes to most real life situations. Even if you did decide it was a good idea to tackle someone to the ground on concrete and try to submit them, any real attacker isn’t likely to submit and they certainly won’t be following any UFC rules that’s for sure. That’s if you can actually take them down before you get stabbed or take a bottle to the head.
On top of that there is no valor in the street. If you are on the floor you can pretty much bet that any accomplices or friends of your
opponent will be quick to start in with raining dozens of kicks and blows down on you – not the best position to be in. It doesn’t matter if you are Tito Ortiz with five guys kicking you in the head the only ‘bad’ thing about you is going to be the number of stitches you are going to need if you even make it to the emergency room.
