Some of the hottest items right now are from the Sprawl and Jaco brands and along with that we have also added a couple pair of MMA shorts to our MMA Shorts section.  Both these shorts are great looking shorts but are also fully functional in the ring or octagon whether you are in a tournament, event, or match.

The Sprawl/Century MMA shorts are some of the most unique shorts out on the market right now.  Both Sprawl and Century MMA put their teams together and worked on coming up with the best MMA short they could create without any limits and this is their creation.  You can check out more here: Sprawl MMA Fight Shorts.

Review of “The Book of Knowledge” by BJ Penn

Posted on 20 November 2011 by Last Ronin

Written By Last Ronin

So you want to get a mixed martial arts book, but aren’t really sure which one would be the best.  That’s totally understandable with the hundreds of books sitting on the shelves at your local bookstore, meaning that picking one is going to be a bit overwhelming.  The good thing about buying a book though is getting to look at the reviews and hear what others have got to say about it.  Now I have read a lot of books in my time and my martial arts library is pretty fat, but out of all of the ones I own I would definitely say that my BJ Penn book is one that everyone needs in their library.

Mixed Martial Arts: The Book of Knowledge by BJ Penn is a wonderful book for both beginners as well as advanced students.  BJ Penn is a true champion and ambassador of the sport, so why wouldn’t you want to know what he has to say?  This book is pretty comprehensive in what it covers and gives you just enough to get a little taste of what MMA is about.  Now don’t expect to be the future champion just from reading this book.  BJ’s book is a tool to be used alongside your training, and not the end all resource that is going to make you a black belt.

MMA Site Review: MMA Headliner

Posted on 13 October 2011 by Tony Thacker

Every now and then we like to feature another MMA related website that we think our readers would like and most of all find useful, and we have found such a site.  We have started monitoring for the latest news in the world of mixed martial arts is MMAHeadliner.com.  So, we wanted learn a little more about this website along with the idea and person behind the headlines.  The owner of MMAHeadliner.com is Mike Schluter who started the website because he was tired of tracking the important MMA news through several websites.  So, instead of just continuing to be frustrated he did something about it.

He started www.MMAHeadliner.com which is an MMA news aggregator that pulls in all the latest and greatest news stories around the world of Mixed Martial Arts.  In his own words about MMAHeadliner Schulter had this to say, “MMA Headliner is almost one year old and was created for the hardcore MMA fan who is tired of checking for the latest MMA news”.

10 Must Have Martial Art Books

Posted on 29 September 2011 by Jillian Bullock

By Jillian Bullock

When someone begins their journey as an athlete, and especially as a martial artist, he or she often puts all their time and energy into the physical aspect of training. But so much more goes into becoming a champion in any sport. What is even more important for martial artists and boxers is the psychology component. Training for a fight goes far beyond the physicality. In fact, it has been said that fighting is 90% mental. So, if the mind is not focused and in tune with the body, it doesn’t matter what kind of shape you’re in, you will not succeed in obtaining greatness, become a world class athlete or a top notch champion.

Beginners to the world of martial arts often make many mistakes when it comes to training methods, nutrition, vitamins and supplements, and learning to balance their professional life as a fighter and their personal life. There are also several experienced fighters who often still get it wrong when it comes to what will help them bring their game up another notch in order to wear a championship belt around their waist. So, to help martial artists achieve success in the ring or cage and in life, here are 10 books and reviews that every fighter should own.

Warrior – The First Credible MMA Movie

Warrior – The First Credible MMA Movie

Posted on 14 September 2011 by Tony Thacker

Overall Rating: You Gotta See This Movie!

I was able to get a sneak peak at the new MMA movie, “Warrior,” opening on September 9th. Warrior has everything MMA fans are used to: a high school teacher turned MMA star, a war veteran-turned-fighter, a stoic Russian MMA machine, a mohawked brawler, a seedy manager, a famed trainer and an underdog story, what more can you ask for?

“Warrior” (Lionsgate) might appear to be a close relation of mindlessly bellicose fodder for example “Conan the Barbarian,” the exploitative retread unleashed by Lionsgate the 2009 summer. In truth, “Warrior” is a poignant, well-acted sports drama about fraternal discord and ties between fathers and sons.
