5 Most Loved MMA Fighters

Posted on 03 January 2012 by Tony Thacker

Over the last few decades we’ve seen some very polarizing personalities emerge in this sport. Some men choose to express themselves precisely as they would behind closed doors; some men opt to project specific images in the hopes of drawing more fan interest. The protagonist personality surfaces just as often as the antagonistic, but it seems the genuine individuals are the true crowd pleasers; even drunken fans can detect a bogus façade.

So who captivates fanatic followers the most in today’s MMA landscape? Do you see your favorite fighter on this list?  If not let us know below in the comments!

The Most Successful Fighters Post-Ultimate Fighter

Posted on 12 March 2011 by Hobson Lopes

With the 13th season of The Ultimate Fighter just weeks away, I got to thinking who has had the most successful UFC career since the show.  Three of the fighters have won UFC titles, but none have successfully defended them.  Some of the fighters on the show fought in the UFC prior to their time on TUF.  These rankings only reflect post-TUF statistics.

Rating System: Win= 3 points. Loss= -2 points.  Draw= 1 point.  No contest= 0 points. Title Shot=3 points. Title Win=10 points. Title Defense=5 points.

UFC Ranking: Top 5 UFC Light Heavyweight Fighters

ufc ranking1. Mauricio Rua knocked out unhittable Machida

The former PRIDE stars owns one of the last defeats on Alistair Overeem’s record, made his debut in the UFC against Forrest Griffin September 2007, and got choked out.  He didn’t fight again for nearly 16 months and many fans were worried that he left his skills in Japan.  In the Mark Coleman fight, he looked rusty, but won by TKO in the third round.  He knocked out Chuck Liddell in the first round and was ready for a title shot.  He lost by unanimous decision in one of the worst decisions I have ever seen to Lyoto Machida.  The Ultimate Fighting Championships agreed and gave him a rematch, where he knocked out Machida in the first round to win the title.  We haven’t seen him fight since, but he’s the top guy in the top company in the world.
