In the world of mixed martial arts, there are fights and then there are super fights. When the sport was gaining traction again in 2005, Randy Couture defended the Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight title against Chuck Liddell. That was a super fight. When Liddell went on to defend the title for the first time following his knockout victory against “the Natural” against Jeremy Horn, that was a fight.

This week, UFC 125 was dealt a serious blow as the newly crowned UFC Featherweight Champion; Jose Aldo was forced to withdraw from the card. He was set to defend his title against 14-1 Josh Grispi. The champion has been suffering from a compacted cervical vertebra that has caused pain in his back and arms. While Aldo wanted to continue on with the fight, he was informed by doctors to take a month off to allow his body to heal.
