Savate is a full-contact boxing and kicking art, indigenous to France and some other parts of southwest Europe. It is believed to have evolved from a collection of fighting techniques used by sailors, criminals, and soldiers. The art form also includes a number of grappling maneuvers and involves weapons training, most notably with staffs such as the “steel batons” and “la canne de combat“.

Rise in popularity

Arguably two of the most exciting MMA fighters fight has been put on hold.  Jake Shields and Drew Fickett were to meet for the EliteXC welterweight division, but do to an injury of Fickett’s he had to back out of the fight.  The previous fight that never happened was scheduled on the night of Cung Le vs. Shamrock card.  We are hoping these two can get together soon.  Below we have listed the current card:
