Protein Powder & MMA: How Much Do You Really Need?

Elite athletes are always looking to get a leg up on their competition and one way they do so is with the use of supplements, either performance enhancing or muscle development. Not all supplements are bad or banned by the athletic commissions. Whey protein powder is a pretty common supplement that helps build muscle, makes a great recovery drink, and is legal to use for competition. While it is a great product to use when you are training it is quite easy to get carried away and consume more protein than your body needs or can handle. If you choose to add whey protein powder to your routine then make sure you know both the benefits and pitfalls as well as know just how much your body needs.

There’s no denying that mixed martial arts fighters, males and females, are some of the toughest athletes in the world. When they prepare for a match it’s like they are going to war. To match the intensity their body will have to endure to prepare for a fight most MMA practitioners also realize that nutrition is a vital part of their training process and proper foods, along with vitamins and supplements, will help repair muscles, strengthen joints, reduce injuries and illness, and help them with recovery.

Can you believe in the ‘Hard Nosed’ sport of Mixed Martial Arts there are actually some fighters that don’t tear into the flesh of animals for their diet.  When you think of the best fighters in the world you image them sitting around a table filled with steak, lamb, potatoes, and beer but that just isn’t the case.  There are actually fighters who don’t partake of meat while at the dinner table.  Some of the more notable and  ‘out of the closet’ MMA Fighers that are Vegans are:
