The big martial art (non-traditional martial arts) about 5 years ago was Kickboxing, but now that excitement has move to the style of Muay Thai. In fact, many people are now trying out Muay Thai as part of their fitness training routine. It’s probably the most physically demanding type of workout and you will ever have and you will definitely get into shape and stay in shape as long as you continue with Muay Thai.

Bokator and Khmer Traditional Wrestling

Bokator is an indigenous martial art that was developed by the Khmer people and used by the ancient armies of Angkor. It is thought to be the predecessor of all Southeast Asian kickboxing styles. Also known as labok katao, it is an extremely complex system that has a total of 341 different styles.  Bokator contains a number of locks, strikes, holds, and submissions.

Southeast Asian Martial Arts – Muay Thai (Thai boxing)

Muay Thai is a hard fighting piece of mixed martial arts that resembles pradel serey, tomoi, and muay Lao from Laos. It is probably derived from Muay Thaimuay boran and krabi krabong. Also known as Thai boxing or Thai kickboxing, it is the national sport of Thailand and enjoys worldwide popularity, thanks in part to a daily televised bout in Thailand and the movie Ong Bak, starring Tony Jaa in a feature that seamlessly blended acrobatic stunts and Thai boxing.
