Silva Proves to be #1 P4P in the World

If there was ever any doubt going into Saturday night’s UFC Middleweight title fight that Anderson Silva was the best pound for pound fighter in the world, those discussions were abruptly halted.  Silva, the reigning champion took his time in the first 2 minutes of the fight with Vitor Belfort, as is typical of the Spider, before landing an exceptional front kick to the chin  to knock down Belfort and landed another 2 punches before referee Mario Yamasaki stopped the fight.

Griffin Goes Down

UFC lightweight fighter, Tyson Griffin, has announced that he will move to the featherweight division to continue his fighting career. The 14-5 fighter posted a video to his official website in which he stated that he will move down to 145 once he returns from dealing with a knee injury that has plagued him.

UFC 126 is set to be an exciting card. With the big time matchup between Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort, the world is waiting in anticipation to know exactly what will happen. With the entire buzz that is surrounding the card’s main event, the most important matchup may actually occur well before we find out if we have a new champion or not.

Big Night for Japanese MMA

UFC 126 is going to be a big night for many fighters. Names such as Miguel Torres and Demetrious Johnson are making their debuts for the organization since making a name for themselves in the WEC. Debuting in the Octagon is a very big deal; often times it can rattle the physique of the fighters. However, two big names from Japanese MMA cannot afford to have such a feeling.

UFC Coming to Philadelphia

The “City of Brotherly Love” will not be so loving of brothers for at least one night in 2011. First reported by MMAfighting.com, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will return to Philadelphia for an event in August.

Fights To Make After UFC Fight For The Troops 2

UFC Fight for the Troops 2 wasn’t just about the athletes in the cage. This event was about a cause that is bigger than the UFC. This annual event was created to benefit the brave soldiers of the US military who risk their lives on a daily basis for our freedoms. During the event, money is raised to help with the treatment of injured soldiers. Surely, this year will be another successful year for the benefit.

Melvin Guillard pulled off what many may consider a huge upset at UFC Fight for the Troops 2 at Fort Hood, Texas. He stopped lightweight contender Evan Dunham during the first round of their fight.
